Comments:  The skies were not the best on the February 26 shoot.  Seeing and transparency were only moderate, there was a light breeze, and it was in the 20s.  Conditions improved in April and allowed for a second shot at this galaxy.  M106 was discovered by Pierre Mechain in 1781.  It is receeding at 537 km/sec and is suspected of being a member of the Ursa Major cloud.  The "blue streak" to the right of M106 in the photo is the galaxy NGC4248 (mag 12.6).  Also, the two blue fuzzy spots in the upper right at the edge of the frame are the galaxies NGC4231 and NGC4232 (both listed as mag 15).
