Comments: M49 is one of the brightest member galaxies of the Virgo Cluster.   It was discovered by Charles Messier in 1771.   The Edge on galaxy at top right is NGC4526 (mag 9.6). The face-on spiral galaxy at right center is NGC4535 (mag 12.8). Also visible are NGC4519 (mag 12.3, at bottom right), NGC4492 (mag 12.6, to the right of M49), and NGC4488 (mag 12.2, right and below M49).
