Comments:  This reshoot with the ED80 was taken on one of a series of wonderfully clear and comfortable nights at the end of August.  M31 is the famous Andromeda Galaxy, our nearest neighbor galaxy, forming the local group of galaxies together with its companions M32 and M110, and others.  This galaxy is visible to the naked eye even under moderate conditions (it certainly was).
